The urbanisation of Quesada is located on the south facing slopes, with views over the salt lakes of Torrevieja. One is an actual working salt lake considered to be the most important in Europe, the other being a nature reserve.

Among the many facilities in and around Quesada are an Aqua Park, the golf courses of Royal Campoamor, Las Ramblas, La Finca and Villa Martin where they have, in the past held the Spanish Open.

A short car ride away are some typical Spanish towns - Torrevieja, Guadamar del Segura, Elche and Alicante.

10 minutes drive away is Guadamar del Segura a Spanish town at the mouth of the River Segura and epitomises a typical Spanish seaside resort, with sand dunes pine and eucalyptus trees. The Reina Sofia Park is a rich wildlife, pine grove with lakes, ponds and botanical routes is well worth a visit. Amongst it many attractions is a superb beach side with miles of clean golden sand, good restaurants, and typical Spanish bars. On Wednesdays the town transforms into a mad whirlwind of activity with the street market.

20 minutes drive away is Torrevieja, a growing sunshine resort on the Costa Blanca, with 300 plus blue sky and blue sea days every year. A market is held in the streets of Torrevieja on Fridays, selling designer clothes, shoes, fruit and veg, bed linen, handbags and jewellery. During summer evenings there is a fun fair by the harbour and a craft market is open from the Piazza to the beginning of the Promenade.

Torrevieja has a number of Fiestas, the procession on the night of Good Friday is one of the most admired on the eastern coast of Spain. In May the 'Ferria de Mayo' is host to 300,000 people and the town comes to life with music, dance and costume. In June the 'Holy Heart Festivities' are celebrated with children's games dance and musical performance. The 16th July is the festival of the 'Virgin del Carmen' who is the patron saint of fishermen and seamen. Finally from the 1st - 17th December the 'Fiestas Patronales' (patron Saints day) concludes the years festivities.

40 minutes away Elche is well known for its Palm Groves, which dominate the city. Within them are over 200,000 trees and the area has been designated a World Heritage site. The narrow streets of the old walled city are well worth a wander. There is also a vast 18th century baroque Basilica de Santa Maria, which is the venue for mystery plays.

30 minutes away Alicante is Valencia's second largest city, long sandy beaches, mild and pleasant climate and a recently renovated old town with lively evening entertainment. The main fiesta is at the end of June.
